Stephen (Steve) was born in 1937 in Southern California. He has studied watercolor and oil painting with several teachers over the last 20 years.
His favorite painters are Paul Cezanne for composition, color and structure, and Vincent van Gogh for color and imagination.
He is married to a school teacher and fellow artist. After a 38 year career as an electrical engineer, he retired in 1996 and has devoted his time since then to his love of music and art.
He plays a number of musical instruments, including the tuba and the mandolin, and composes ragtime music.
When he's not doing that, Steve enjoys oil painting outdoors. Lately, he has been experimenting with different methods of painting to achieve a more painterly style.
