There is a part of Denmark that is more close to Sweden!
There is a part of Denmark that was occupied by the German under World War II longer then the rest of the country!
There is a part of Denmark that have choosen to be just that - a part of Denmark!
I am talking about Bornholm. You can find it on the map over Denmark as this island that are in a separate box normally on the right top corner of the map.
If you look on a map over Europe you can find it between Sweden and Poland in the Baltic Sea. It is a very little island but it has a very big history. The German stayed on the island when the rest of Denmark was saved by England and USA. In a few days the Russians came and rescued them from the Germans. In that situation we almost lost the island because the Russian saw the place as a political and military very good place - but Bornholm wanted to join Denmark and even though we often make fun of them, we do love them.
There will come two more libraries on this page - one with pictures from Hammershus and later pictures from Christians Island - an even smaller island a short trip from Bornholm.
